Marianne Verbuyt

Founder and Business Executive Pedagogical Director & Tutor

Marianne has taught and tutored for over 20 years in Paris and New York, coaching and mentoring children and teenagers in French, mathematics and study skills.

Marianne fell in love with pedagogy at Ecole Decroly (Brussels, Belgium) after which she taught at Ecole Alsacienne (Paris, France).

She then taught physiotherapy and pedagogical re-education to students with disabling injuries, chronic illness and congenital disabilities at Votre Ecole Chez Vous (Paris, France). Throughout the years, Marianne has consulted to schools on providing the best education for special-needs children.

After moving to New York, Marianne became the Elementary School Coordinator at the Lycée Français de New York for six years and subsequently co-founded Marianne’s Alpha Kappa, a private coaching and tutoring firm for both students and teachers. After receiving significant feedback from students and teachers praising her ability to build a bridge between languages and cultures, she decided to publish her teaching methods for further implementation on a national and international level. Marianne has been training the French American Academy’s teachers since January 2019.

Kara is a teacher educator who has worked closely with math teachers across grades K-12.  A staff developer for Math in the City since 2003, she also works as a New Teacher Advisor for Math for America. Kara began her teaching career as a middle school math teacher (NYCDOE) and more recently, served as a faculty member at Pace University, School of Education.  She has co-authored several articles for and with teachers, and is currently a doctoral student in Urban Education at the Graduate Center at the City University of New York (CUNY).
